What the Benefit Golf Classic is all about!
The Benefit Golf Classic was the brainchild of Bill Quimby. Bill's participation on the Advisory Council of the Oregon Burn Center provided insight as to the need for fund raising to further the work of the Burn Center. Projects in the past raised money but in limited amounts. Something new was needed to generate interest and bring awareness to the Burn Center's outstanding work.
In 1995, Bill approached Gene Daily with the idea of putting on a golf tournament to generate capital for the Burn Center. Bill knew the needs of the Center and Gene knew the mechanics of putting on a golf tournament. Many discussions over the next year and a half took place until November of 1996 when the decision was made to create "The Benefit Golf Classic". What a grand adventure a decision like this would turn out to be.
Since then, 18 years later, together we have raised over $950,000.00. This year we hope to break the “Million Dollars Donated” mark. For all of the people at the Burn Education and Prevention Program, the Burn Center, the committee and all of our great participants over the years, this is more than we thought possible when it all started 18 years ago. Please join us for this mile-stone event.

What We Do
As the only facility of its kind between Seattle and Sacramento, the Oregon Burn Center at Legacy Emanual Health Care Center treated over 400 burn survivors from across Oregon and Southwest Washington last year. A high percentage of patients cared for at the Burn Center are from our community and have been seriously burned on the job. Your contribution to the Burn Center will help the burn team prevent burns through education and outreach, as well as train medical staff in burn treatment to minimize injury for each burn survivor.
If we can save one person from the devastation of serious burns, we will have accomplished our goal. With your help, we can achieve so much more.
Thanks to the generosity we have received from you and our sponsors, the Benefit Golf Classic golf tournament raised has raised over $950,000.00
Our goal once again this year is to break the Million Dollars donated to support the critical work the Oregon Burn Center does.
